New painting, “Stone Arch”

I’m still not well enough to travel around to get some new reference photos for paintings, so I’ve turned to Flickr, looking for nice photographs shared by people who are willing for them to be used as reference.  Today’s painting comes courtesy of Alden Chadwick.

I used a variety of pens in this – Copic Multiliners in various sizes and also a little Pentel Brush Pen. Once again it’s using M. Graham watercolours, which I’m loving more and more.

During this painting I was reminded of something that Craig Nelson said in one of his tutorial videos – “You’ll learn more from painting one hundred one-hour paintings than you will from painting one one-hundred-hour painting.” … certainly I’m noticing my own work improve quite quickly from doing these postcard-sized paintings.

This painting is now available in my Etsy shop for $AU50 plus shipping.
